Mario Götze was reportedly given a warning by incoming Bayern Munich head coach Carlo Ancelotti that he should exit the team if he wants to have more first team playing time and English Premier League side Liverpool is said to be willing to catch him this summer.

The Mirror reported that the former Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, Milan, and Juventus bench tactician advised the 23-year-old midfielder to "move elsewhere for regular action" as things will not change for the better for Götze once he takes over from Pep Guardiola at the end of the season.

Götze had grown frustrated about his lack of playing time this season in Munich as Guardiola only used him 13 times in Bundesliga and 20 times in all competitions. The Memmingen, Germany native managed to score just once in the German top flight while netted another three in other competitions.

The previous two seasons saw him getting more playing time, but it was not enough for the World Cup-winning scorer and the trend seems to be getting worse as the seasons pass. Götze scored 15 goals in 45 appearances in 2013-2014 then scored 15 again this time in 48 games last season.

The Germany international, who famously scored the winning goal in the country's 1-0 win over Argentina in the 2014 FIFA World Cup Final, was acquired by the Der FCB in the summer of 2013 from rivals Borussia Dortmund, who had been his home team since his youth days.

Götze is considered as one of the most promising young footballers at that time, but his career has not progressed during his three seasons with Guardiola and the Bavarians.

Caught Offside indicated that 5-foot-9 midfielder "has been consistently linked with a move to Liverpool" and that he is set to be offered £20 million by the Reds in the summer to move to England.

Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp was Götze's coach during his first four seasons as a pro with Dortmund when he won the 2011 Golden Boy award and the Bundesliga Young Player of the Year in 2010-2011.
