A handful of photos believed to be that of the Droid devices and modular back plates known only as MotoMods were posted by the ever-reliable leaker Evan Blass. The leaked photos only highlighted the back part of the phone. It appears that it is flat, made of metal, and has a unique looking camera module. Down at the bottom part of the device reveals some contacts which many believe will be used to connect the phone to the MotoMod accessories.

As for the MotoMod accessories, Blass shared a photo of these modular upgrades. One looks like a dedicated camera module which also sports an optical zoom. The accessory looks pretty thick, which led many tech analysts to believe that it might house an external battery to provide more juice to the smartphone. Some believe that it might house the pico-projector which has been in the rumor mill for quite some time already.

Based on the leaked photographs, MotoMods are essentially replaceable back covers which can add various additional features to the new Droid smartphones, according to Phone Arena. Motorola is yet to release an official statement regarding the leaked photographs.

Details about the Moto Z Style and Moto Z Play, along with the MotoMod peripherals are expected to be revealed by Motorola at the upcoming Tech World Conference on June 9.
