Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan turned down an offer from English Premier League side Chelsea but left himself open to a possible move to Manchester United this summer, recent reports said.

The 28-year-old Belgium international was rumored to be one of incoming Blues head coach Antonio Conte's top summer transfer targets as he wants to strengthen the spine of the Stamford Bridge giants for next season.

The Sun indicated that Chelsea offered Roma a bid of £27 million last week for the services of Nainggolan. However, apart from the Belgian not wanting to leave the club, I Giallorossi is also demanding a buyout fee of £35 million, which is £8 million higher than the Blues' offer.

It was further mentioned, though, that Nainggolan would be willing to leave the squad if his destination would be with the Red Devils at the Old Trafford and Jose Mourinho will be his new mentor.

Meanwhile, Caught Offside reported that 5-foot-9 Antwerp, Belgium native was adamant about wanting to stay in the Italian capital city, saying that "I will stay, I'm not moving from here. I'm happy in Rome, I don't want to leave," earlier this month.

Nainggolan had just finished one of his most productive seasons with the title-chasing I Lupi, appearing in 34 of Roma's 38 Italian top flight games this term and scoring six times in the process. In all competitions, he had played 41 matches producing those six goals.

It was his third season of stay at the Stadio Olimpico as he had accumulated 13 goals during the said time span, playing in a total of 107 games for La Maggica in all competitions.

Aside from Nainggolan, Chelsea is said to be also interested in his teammate, winger Miralem Pjanic, but five straight Scudetto winners Juventus is the leading destination of the Bosnian footballer this offseason.

"I have two more years on my contract with Roma. If an official offer comes in then we will see," Pjanic said.

The 26-year-old midfielder is under contract in Rome until 2018 and will cost a transfer fee of £31 million for willing buyers.
