English Premier League giants Manchester United is reportedly preparing a €120 million bid for Real Madrid's Gareth Bale this summer.

Caught Offside noted that Manchester United have "put aside" €120 million "towards signing the Madrid forward, and it will serve to further test the La Liga giants' resolve with President Florentino Perez desperate to keep hold of his star asset".

Bale is said to be considered by Perez as the heir to Cristiano Ronaldo's throne at the Bernabéu should the three-time Ballon d'Or winner chooses to leave or retire, but the pull of the Premier League may be "too difficult to overcome" for the former Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur standout.

The 26-year-old Wales international is also said to be new United manager Jose Mourinho's top transfer target this July as previous reports went out that the Red Devils granted the Portuguese mentor a €250 million warchest to try and improve the club's roster to his preference when he takes over, according to Football Gossip.

Almost half of the said transfer kitty is allegedly reserved for the Los Blancos winger as Mourinho wants a significant upgrade to the team's scoring options next season. Other than Bale, the 53-year-old former Chelsea and Real Madrid manager is said to be targeting a reunion with PSG striker Zlatan Ibrahimović in a free transfer also this summer.

If both plans materialize, then United will have one of the best scoring fronts in the English top flight next season with the possibility of playing the trio of Wayne Rooney, Bale, and Ibrahimović in the starting unit.

Speculations abound that the lure to be the top dog in United could be hard to pass up for Bale as he had been unsuccessful in trying to upstage Ronaldo at the Bernabéu in the past few seasons.

However, the possibility of continually winning silverware with Real next season and beyond is also something that the Cardiff, Wales native is allegedly considering.
