The news comes days after lead star Ellen Pompeo extended her contract to return to the series.

The actors are among the six series regulars whose contracts expired at the end of season 12. All of the actors will be returning to the series, except for Sara Ramirez, who decided against renewing her contract and opted out of the series.

Ramirez, who plays Dr. Callie Torres, has been one of the fan favorites since she first made her debut in season two. In a statement issued last month, the actress said goodbye to her fans, co-actors and series creator Shonda Rhimes.

"I'm deeply grateful to have spent the last 10 years with my family at Grey's Anatomy and ABC, but for now I'm taking some welcome time off," Ramirez said at the time.

"Shonda's been so incredible to work for, and we will definitely continue our conversations! I send my love to Ellen, the rest of the cast and crew, and I look forward to always being a part of the Shondaland family!"

Grey's Anatomy debuted in 2005 and has since established itself as a formidable medical drama on television. During its 12-year run, the show has tackled a wide-range of topics such as friendship, love, religion, the LGBT community and more.

In 2006, it won the Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG) for Outstanding Cast in a Drama Series.

The series, which shockingly parted ways with Patrick Dempsey (McDreamy) last year in spite of the actor having a year left on his contract, was ranked as ABC's highest-rated show in key demographics and ranked among television's top five dramas following the conclusion of season 12.

Grey's Anatomy season 13 bows on ABC this fall.
