Recent rumors are out that Italian Serie A champions Juventus are targeting Everton striker Romelu Lukaku as a possible replacement for Alvaro Morata, who is set to exit Turin as Real Madrid intends to activate the buyback clause in his contract this summer.

The 23-year-old Morata was acquired by Juve from Los Blancos in the summer of 2014 for a transfer fee of €20 million. The deal included a buyback option that would enable the Bernabéu giants to buy the 6-foot-2 striker back if they want to anytime in the future.

With Morata's stock rising as he had been in top form for the last two championship seasons with the Old Lady, a lot of teams are rumored to be interested in acquiring his services. Thus, Real planned to activate the buyback clause to make some profit off the young Spaniard this summer.

Juve is said to be resigned to the eventuality of losing Morata in the offseason and so they are currently looking for a viable scoring threat that will replace the Madrid native.

Football Italia reported that Le Zebre is seriously considering Everton's Lukaku, valued at €40 million, as the man that will fill their scoring needs next season.

The 23-year-old Belgium international is allegedly keen on leaving Goodison Park this summer as he is seeking Champions League competition next season, something which the Toffees will not be able to provide for him.

"I will be 23 in the summer and I think it would be nice to play in the Champions League from next season. That is the next step for me," said Lukaku in an interview last March.

Lukaku had a remarkable season with Everton last term, finishing it as "the fourth-leading scorer with 18 goals - a new career high", as per Caught Offside.

In three seasons with the Toffees, Lukaku had scored 61 times in 127 games in all competitions, a terrific production for the Belgian, making him one of the hottest young strikers in Europe at the moment.
