(Photo : YouTube) A new magnetic optional keyboard is set to be released for the Chuwi Hi12.

The Chuwi Hi12 needs an external keyboard to function as a laptop like most 2-in-1 tablets. To address this issue, the Chinese tech company has released an optional magnetic keyboard.

The Chuwi Hi12 magnetic keyboard is made from aluminum alloy. It sports a strong magnetic hinge for easy attachment to the tablet. The keyboard can be folded up to a 120-degree angle because of the hinge. The docking port has also been improved to minimize instances of the keyboard accidentally falling off.

Besides the physical keyboard function, it also offers two additional USB 2.0 ports which stretch the number of peripherals that can be connected to the Chuwi Hi12.

The new Chuwi Hi12 external keyboard costs around $40. While the price is steep, the functions and convenience brought by the external keyboard makes up for the price.

The Chuwi Hi12 is a Windows-based 2-in-1 tablet with a 12-inch 2K Retina display that supports up to 2160x1440 resolution. The tablet's 400 lumens screen brightness ensures that the display is crystal clear even if it is subjected to direct sunlight.

At the heart of the Chuwi Hi12 is an Intel Cherry Trail processor with a 4GB of DDR3L memory configured in dual-channel. The tablet has 64GB of storage space which is expandable up to 128GB.

The Chuwi Hi12 tablet comes preinstalled with a licensed 64-bit Windows 10 operating system. The tablet has a powerful 11000mAh battery pack which the company claims can last up to eight hours after a single charge. The 3A fast charging technology reduces charging time by about 20 percent.

The Chuwi Hi12 costs $250.
