Shanghai Disney Resort has announced that it would slash entrance ticket prices in the month of September. The ticket prices would be lowered in September as it is a low season for tourism.

China Daily reported that ticket prices will be lowered from the current peak of 499 Yuan ($75) to 370 Yuan ($56) in September. Tickets rates for senior citizens, children and the physically handicapped will be lowered from 375 Yuan ($56) to 280 Yuan ($42).

Chinese media has criticized Disney Resort ticket prices as being too expensive. According to Chinese media's estimate, a family of three has to splurge at least 2,600 Yuan ($390) for a one-day tour and roughly 6,000 Yuan ($899) for a two-day tour of the resort.

However, the exorbitant ticket prices have not stopped locals from flocking to Disney resort. Earlier this month, Walt Disney's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Robert Iger, said that more than one million people had visited Shanghai Disney Resort since its official inauguration on June 16.

The anticipation ahead of the official opening on June 16 was so high that real estate prices around Disney Resort dramatically increased. Many had even predicted that air ticket prices to Shanghai would shoot up due to the Disney Resort.

Walt Disney is hoping that its maiden entertainment resort in the world's most populous nation will propel its profit in the coming years. The American entertainment conglomerate spent a whopping 34 billion Yuan ($5.2 billion) on the construction of the Disney resort in Shanghai.
