Beijing Smog Returns, Intensity Less Than Expected

Beijing authorities prepared citizens for four days of suffocating smog beginning on Saturday. However, many say the haze was less intense than what was forecasted. Some even questioned why the government had issued its highest air pollution alert.

China's capital city saw its first pollution red alert on Monday. Beijing local government issued the alert to caution the city's residents about the harsh smog conditions. The alert will be raised from Tuesday to Thursday.
