After several months of bed rest in the hospital, Taiwanese actress Vivian Hsu finally welcomed a healthy baby boy on Aug. 13 Thursday. The 40-year-old first-time mother shared photos of her and her little bundle of joy on Monday, days after giving birth.

In one of the photos, Hsu can be seen cradling her little angel while smiling even with teary eyes. In another, she is holding the tiny foot of her son in both of her hands. According to Hsu's Facebook post, she named her newborn baby "Dalton," since her and her husband Sean Lee's names both end in letter "n." Meanwhile, the initial "D" is the letter between "C" and "E," the initials of Hsu's step-daughters Clara and Elisha.

Weighing 2 kg., Dalton arrived via caesarian section after 32 weeks. In a report by Asia One, Hsu was determined to go beyond the required 28 weeks so her baby "won't suffer much after birth." Hsu rested for several days before making the announcement of his birth and apologized to her fans for the late update.

As though little Dalton is speaking, Hsu wrote on her post, "Mummy says I have long eyes and long fingers like hers, and I look like daddy in other areas! Granny says I am more handsome than daddy! I will grow up and be a strong Leo, like a lion king. I will protect my family and help others when I grow up."

Since the announcement of her pregnancy in March, Hsu's doctor has advised her to spend the succeeding months at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore until her unborn child reaches 28 weeks. Hsu's pregnancy had been difficult, forcing her to confront pains (including 142 days of doctor-mandated bed rest and 300 injections) and insecurities that come with her condition.

According to previous reports, the actress felt hatred toward herself for not being able to do simple things such as urinating and cleaning herself. With the help of her cousin, Hsu tried to busy herself with little activities, including brushing up on her English skills while in confinement.

While she was in labor, her husband stayed by her side. The singer-actress is expected to make a comeback in March 2016.
