Early this year, rumors about the release of the Microsoft Surface Book 2 have made their way online. According to speculations, the year would not end without the release of the highly anticipated device. These rumors were only supported by the recent introduction of discounts for the Surface Book and Surface Pro 3 and 4.

Unfortunately, more recent reports claim that the laptop/tablet hybrid would not be available for purchase until 2017. According to The BitBag, Microsoft was well on its way into developing their upcoming device. The tech company chose Intel's next generation processor, the Kaby Lake, to power the Surface Book 2. However, almost six months into 2016, Intel has yet to perfect the Kaby Lake chip. Because of the delay in the production of the processor, the Surface Book 2 supposedly would not be released until 2017.

Nevertheless, despite the release date delay, details about the upcoming Microsoft offering have been released. Based on the information available, the Microsoft Surface Book 2 is a device tech enthusiast should be looking forward to.

According to EWeek, the Surface Book 2 would see a lot of significant improvements when it comes to its hardware. The new laptop/tablet hybrid would be equipped with a 4k screen display and longer battery life - lasting for at least 12 hours. Moreover, the upcoming device would be equipped with a USB-C Port, akin to the one used by Apple's latest MacBook offering.

Moreover, the publication claims that the Surface Book 2 would have the same hinge technology that the first iteration of the laplet line had. Likewise, the Surface Pen is expected to be included in Microsoft's upcoming release.

Aside from the next generation Intel Kaby Lake processors, the Microsoft device is expected to have a better graphics chip than the Nvidia GeForce GPU the Surface Pro is equipped with. It would also be pre-installed with the latest build of the Microsoft 10.

Although Microsoft has yet to produce a specific price point for their upcoming release, it is expected that the Surface Book 2 would be selling at the same price point as the Surface Book at under $1499.
