Just when it looked like Apple had given up on the BendGate issue, with several users reporting quick replacement units on their iPhone 6 Plus at Apple Stores, supplier Foxconn has jumped in to defend their client.

Foxconn CEO Terry Gou said "how can a phone bend?" before going into a heated rant about how competitors were behind this so-called BendGate controversy. On the subject of bend-tests, Gou said "hands are made to shake hands, not for bending."

It has been a rather odd and mistimed backlash from Foxconn's CEO, who may have just received news about the iPhone 6 Plus bending reports. This does come before the official Chinese iPhone 6 launch, set to happen on October 17.

Currently in China, reports say the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus pre-orders are around 50/50. Having any negative press on the iPhone 6 Plus before it is launched would be harmful to Apple's pre-orders, which can be scrapped by the customer at any time without paying.

Foxconn has worked on the bulk of the manufacturing for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, with Pegatron helping out as well. It does not seem like a manufacturing error that made more than a few iPhone 6 Plus units bend easily, but the way Apple has designed the smartphone, without the magnesium internal structure to stop bending.

It's still unknown whether Apple will do anything to change the design on the iPhone 6 Plus. So far, Apple has only said that there is a low amount of cases of bending phones, and that it shouldn't break under normal pressure.

Foxconn CEO is always a staunch defender of Apple. Gou has spoken out against Samsung's copying and other anti-Apple news topics. There is a good reason for this, Apple still accounts for a good proportion of the company's income.
